The Cleveland Indians have hit a rough patch and will look to get back on track versus the red-hot Astros.
Cleveland has dropped five of their last seven games and its dropped their record to 20-19 and third place in the AL Central. They have also lost their last three series, to Toronto, Minnesota and Tampa Bay. The last two came at home where their vaunted pitching staff allowed 20 runs.
Houston has been one of the best teams in baseball from the get go and have continued that with a red-hot May. They are 13-3 this month with nine wins in their last ten games.
They are coming off a sweep of the Marlins where they outscored them 22-4. But previous to that series they took three of four in New York from the Yankees. Right now Houston is the class of the American League.
Cleveland is 10th in scoring in the AL averaging 4.31 RPG. They are seventh with a 3.98 ERA.
Houston is 2nd in scoring in the AL averaging 5.15 RPG. They are first with a 3.41 ERA.
The Indians will send Trevor Bauer (3-4, 6.92 ERA) to the mound. He’s had a rough May with 14 runs allowed in 16 innings. But he gave up just three runs in six innings in an 8-3 win over the Twins in his last start.
Houston counters with Charlie Morton (5-2, 3.97 ERA). He gave up four runs in 5.2 innings in a 10-7 win over the Yankees in his last start. The Astros have scored at least eight runs and got the win in each of his last four starts.
Houston is rolling, but I like Cleveland to find a way to pull out a win on Friday.
