Feb 7th NHL Hockey Odds: St Louis Blues at Ottawa Senators
Tuesday, February 07, 2012
Frank Martin
The St Louis Blues and the Ottawa Senators were two of the hottest teams in the league heading into the All-Star break. Both teams have struggled since and will be looking to get back in the win column Tuesday.
The Blues visit Scotiabank Place in Ottawa for the only meeting this season. The Senators have won five straight home contests against the Blues. St Louis has dropped three of its last four games, while Ottawa is winless over its last six.
"We're not skating like we did before the (All-Star) break," Senators coach Paul MacLean said after a 5-0 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday. "The pace of play hasn't been as good. Some of that is self-inflicted with poor execution."

The Blues have opened as 125-moneyline favorites on SBG Global Sportsbook’s Live NHL Hockey Odds.
St Louis Blues (30-14-7): St. Louis has relied heavily on its goaltending tandem of Jaroslav Halak and Brian Elliott recently. They haven’t disappointed. St Louis is 7-2-2 since Jan. 7, with five of those victories being shutouts. Halak is 12-2-3 with a 1.56 goals against average in his last 17 starts. Elliott has been equally as good and leads the league with a 1.69 GAA. The St. Louis offense has been sputtering, scoring only 11 goals over its last seven games.
Ottawa Senators (27-21-7): Ottawa went 10-1-1 from Dec. 30-Jan. 19, but a recent scoring drought has sent it plummeting down the Eastern Conference Standings. Ottawa has been outscored 20-8 and is 1 for 15 on the power play during its losing skid. A heavy workload could be taking its toll on goaltender Craig Anderson. He has started 48 of Ottawa’s 50 games, including each of the team’s six straight losses, compiling a 3.53 GAA in that span.
1. C. Anderson is 4-1-0 with a 2.95 GAA in six appearances lifetime versus St. Louis.
2. The Blues are 2-5-2 in their last nine road games.
3. The Senators have lost three straight at home after winning seven of their previous eight.
NHL PREDICTION: Senators 4, Blues 3
