NASCAR Betting Odds: Jimmie Johnson set to Chase another Cup title

The field for the Chase for the Sprint Cup has been set, and although Jimmie Johnson is not at the top of the standings he's still considered the one to beat for the title.

And that's because Johnson hasn't been beaten out for the championship of NASCAR's top series in any of the past five seasons. The No. 48 car has won each and every Sprint Cup title since 2006, and five of seven since the Chase format was launched.

The Chase for the Sprint Cup gets underway on Sunday afternoon, kicking off at the Geico 400 at Chicagoland Speedway. That means the 12-driver field for the Chase has been set, and the standings have been re-set for the 10-race playoffs. Bet on NASCAR now with Bodog Sportsbook.

Sitting atop the standings heading into Chicagoland are Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick, who have both paid off on the NASCAR odds by winning four races so far this season. Jeff Gordon (three wins) is next, followed by Matt Kenseth (two wins).

Johnson, Carl Edwards, Kurt Busch, and Ryan Newman have all won once so far this year and enter the Chase tied for fifth place in the standings, nine points back of the leaders. Tony Stewart and Dale Earnhardt Jr., who have yet to win in 2011, are in ninth spot, while Brad Keselowski and Denny Hamlin are in the Chase's Wild Card berths.

Despite not leading the standings, though, Johnson was the 9/4 favorite to win the Cup title on the NASCAR odds board at the Bodog Sportsbook heading into Saturday night's race at Richmond, which finalized the Chase field.

Kyle Busch and Edwards were next at 13/4 and 5/1, respectively, with Gordon at 13/2, and Harvick and Keselowski at 9/1. Keselowski has three wins so far in 2011, surging late in the season to lock down a Wild Card berth in the Chase.

Kurt Busch (10/1), Kenseth (10/1), Earnhardt Jr. (16/1), Stewart (18/1), Hamlin (22/1), and Newman (25/1) rounded out the title contenders' odds at last update.
