NHL Betting Picks: Dallas Stars at Vancouver Canucks
Friday, March 30, 2012
Two teams with plenty to play for collide Friday when the Dallas Stars visit the Vancouver Canucks. Dallas, which has won seven of nine on the road, is even in points with Phoenix atop the Pacific Division but owns the tiebreaker.
The Stars have earned at least one point in 14 of 18 contests (13-4-1). Vancouver, which already has clinched the Northwest, is three points behind St. Louis in the race for the Presidents' Trophy.
Dallas Stars (42-30-5): Michael Ryder continued to add to his career-high goal total by recording his second two-tally performance in five games in Wednesday's win over Edmonton. Ryder has netted 35 goals in 77 contests this season, his first with Dallas. "I'm just happy to come here and help this team make the playoffs," said Ryder, who won the Stanley Cup with Boston last spring. "I'm just grateful to get that chance and try to show my gratitude towards them." Reilly Smith made his NHL debut Wednesday, registering one shot on goal in just over four minutes of ice time. Smith scored 30 goals in 39 games as a senior at Miami Ohio and is a candidate for the Hobey Baker Award. Dallas has lost five of six visits to Vancouver.
Vancouver Canucks (47-21-9): Vancouver enters with a four-game winning streak, with all four victories being one-goal decisions. The team is 2-0-0 on its five-game homestand, winning both contests by a 1-0 score. The Canucks are trying to become the first club to win consecutive Presidents' Trophies since Dallas accomplished the feat in 1998 and 1999. Chris Higgins has scored in two of his last three games and netted the winning tally in each. Daniel Sedin is expected to miss his fifth straight game with a concussion. Cory Schneider is 11-1-1 in his last 13 starts.
Dallas has won 10 of its last 12 games
against teams from the Northwest.
2. The Canucks have earned at least one point in eight of their last nine meetings with the Stars (7-1-1).
