NHL Hockey Las Vegas Odds: Edmonton Oilers vs Nashville Predators
Friday, March 08, 2013
by Tomas Lopez
The Edmonton Oilers aren't faring well on their season-high nine-game road trip. Edmonton will look to snap a four-game winless skid (0-3-1) on Friday when it invades Music City to face the Nashville Predators. The Oilers are struggling mightily on their lengthy trek, falling to 1-3-2 following their 3-0 loss to Detroit on Thursday.
Nashville isn't singing a happy tune as it suffered a lackluster 5-1 loss to Los Angeles on Monday, its third straight setback and seventh in nine outings (2-6-1). The Predators are looking to put their West Coast troubles behind them when they face the Oilers for the first of three meetings in an 18-day span. Nashville has posted a 17-6-1 mark versus Edmonton despite dropping three of four meetings in 2011-12.

Edmonton Oilers (8-10-5): Edmonton was shut out for the first time this season on Thursday. To add injury to insult, Ales Hemsky exited the loss during the second period after taking a shot off his foot. Hemsky, who leads the team with eight goals, did not return and his availability for Friday's tilt in unknown. Coach Ralph Krueger wasn't overly optimistic, telling the team's website that "it's going to be difficult for him (to play) in Nashville."
Nashville Predators (9-9-5): Gabriel Bourque has tallied in consecutive games to seize the team lead in goals with six. The 22-year-old collected a pair of assists in his lone contest against Edmonton. Although Pekka Rinne is Nashville's unquestioned top goaltender, Chris Mason may get the nod on Friday. Mason boasts a 5-1-2 career mark versus the Oilers with a 1.84 goals-against average and .932 save percentage.
1. Nashville LW Colin Wilson is one point shy of reaching triple digits in his career. The Connecticut native has 44 goals and 55 assists.
2. Edmonton RW Jordan Eberle saw his four-game point streak come to an end on Thursday. Eberle has recorded five goals and two assists in seven career meetings with the Predators.
3. Nashville bolstered its team through the waiver wire, adding RW Bobby Butler from New Jersey on Monday and LW Zach Boychuk from Pittsburgh on Tuesday.
NHL Hockey Prediction: Predators 2, Oilers 1.
