At the Bodog Sportsbook the golf odds board has Fred Couples as the favorite at 5/1 odds to win the tournament this week, but he'll need to improve on his 10th-place result from last year's event to take the trophy. Couples ended up eight strokes back of winner John Cook at this tourney in 2010, which was held at the same venue.
Cook, who also won this tournament in 2009 at the Sonoma Golf Club, is the third-favorite at 10/1 odds after beating Michael Allen for the title by two strokes last season. Allen is back at 20/1 odds to win this week's event.
Nestled between Couples and Cook on the odds board is Tom Lehman at 9/1. Lehman heads into the tournament with the lead in the tour's points race, picking up three victories and 12 Top-10 finishes in 20 events this season. Lehman ended up in a tie for fifth place at this tournament in 2010, finishing six strokes back of Cook.
Mark Calcavecchia, second to Lehman in the points race heading into the final tournament of the season, is also at 10/1 on the PGA odds board, but he finished dead last in a tie for 29th place at this event in 2010.
Kenny Perry (12/1), Tom Pernice Jr. (14/1), Bernhard Langer (18/1), and Russ Cochran (18/1) make up the next tier of contenders for this week's tournament, with each of Corey Pavin, John Huston, and Peter Senior at 20/1 odds. Langer was tied for third place at this event last year with David Frost, who sits back at 66/1 odds on the list.
