Saturday NHL Odds: Dallas Stars at San Jose Sharks

The Dallas Stars and San Jose Sharks begin a crucial home-and-home series Saturday at HP Pavilion. Dallas is seventh in the Western Conference, just one point behind Pacific Division-leading Los Angeles, while ninth-place San Jose trails the Stars by one point.

Dallas is 1-2-0 on its four-game road trip and has won seven of 10 away from home. The Sharks, who enter with a three-game home winning streak, have lost seven of eight against teams from the Pacific.

Dallas Stars (42-31-5): Dallas has lost five of its last eight games, keeping it from taking control of the Pacific and putting its playoff hopes in jeopardy. "They only get bigger," captain Brenden Morrow said. "It puts more pressure on these next games." Steve Ott is one of those feeling the pressure. "We need to find a way to regroup," he said. "We wanted to grab points." Michael Ryder has been on a tear, recording at least one point in 20 of his last 26 games. Ryder has registered 16 goals and 10 assists during the run.

San Jose Sharks (39-29-10): After scoring a total of one goal in its last two games, both losses, San Jose knows time is running out for it to lock up a postseason berth. "I keep saying that we've got to leave (Thursday's loss at Phoenix) behind and move on, but with four (games) left, we better make some hay quick," coach Todd McLellan said. Captain Joe Thornton painted a dire but potentially realistic picture. "We have for games left now, and we've got to go 4-0," Thornton said.

1. The division rivals conclude their home-and-home series Tuesday in Dallas.

2. San Jose is 5-0-1 in the last six meetings between the clubs.
